Introduction
My name is Regina Hicks, I am a teacher and currently enrolled in the Education Specialist Degree program in Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State University. I began the program in the Summer of 2014 and will graduate in the Summer of 2015. I graduated Shorter University in 2000 with a BacheIor's degree in education and from Walden University in 2003 with a Master's degree in Reading and Literacy. I am beginning my 15th year of teaching at Adairsville Elementary School. While at Adairsville I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades as well as in the computer lab and as a Title 1 math teacher.
I currently teach science, social studies, and technology to 4th grade. I have the opportunity to teach my standards while incorporating technology skills. We recently received a grant that affords us the opportunity to allow each student in 4th and 5th grade a MacBook air. KSU's reputation in instructional technology led me to the Educational Specialist Degree program in the Department of Instructional Technology. My ultimate goal is to be able to teach students and teachers how to use the technology that we have available.
The purpose of this portfolio is to demonstrate mastery of the PSC Instructional Technology standards and the ISTE NETS-C standards. As you can see, there are a series of links below the KSU logo that you can visit. Of particular importance is the "standards" link. Under this link, you will see a series of artifacts and reflections documenting the important work I have completed during this program. Each artifact represents mastery of the standard under which it is represented.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Kennesaw State University, and feel that I am well-prepared to integrate technology into my classroom and to assist other educators in using technology and providing professional learning opportunities for them.
